Meet the Team

Keval Sejpar
Principal Optometrist

Keval has been working in optics since 2006 and is fiercely passionate about independent optometry. After qualifying from City University London, he worked in cutting-edge independent practices in London and Oxford before moving to Exmouth in 2014.

Keval is the driving force behind much of the new technology in the practice, and he loves finding solutions to challenging vision problems. His key areas of focus are contact lenses, children’s vision (including myopia management), dry eye and macular degeneration. He has sat on the Council of the Association for Independent Optometrists (AIO) since 2017, becoming Chair in 2024, and is regularly invited to speak at industry events.

Outside the consulting room, he enjoys jazz, keeping fit and catching up with friends over a nice bottle of red wine!

Dr Jasmine Smith
Prescribing Optometrist

Jasmine joined McAusland Optometrists in February 2021, having spent the prior 12 years working at an independent practice in Hertfordshire. With her insatiable thirst for knowledge, Jasmine isn’t one to rest on her laurels; in 2020 she earned Independent Prescribing status and in July 2021 became one of only a handful of optometrists in the country to complete her Doctorate in Optometry.

Jasmine has a special interest in macular health and the management of ocular conditions. She is accredited in several different forms of myopia management, helping to slow the progress of short-sightedness in young people, and has a knack for diagnosing and treating dry eye problems too.

When she’s not looking after patients, Jasmine enjoys pottery and exploring the outdoors.

Sarah Fletcher

Sarah brings a wealth of experience to our dispensing team, having joined the profession at the tender age of 17. She relocated from Wiltshire in 2024, and has settled into our team beautifully! She loves helping people find the perfect pair of glasses, and not only has a great eye for what styles & shapes suit people best but has also developed a knack for recogising the colours that work for each person’s natural colour palette.

With a passion for all things vintage, Sarah enjoys exploring brocantes and markets in her spare time, rooting out retro treasures. She is thoroughly enjoying life in Devon and exploring the countryside with her cockapoo, Wilbur.

Emma Cooling
Frame Stylist

Emma joined the team in 2019 – taking over from her mother, Gaye, who retired after 26 years at the practice.

Emma achieved her Optical Assistant qualification with Distinction in Summer 2020 and in July 2021 completed the first year of th Dispensing Optician course.

Her background in interior design & beauty means she’s got a keen eye for style and she loves helping our clients find frames that are “just right”.

Liz Bramley
Optical Assistant

Liz took charge of our reception desk in August 2020. She is the familiar face you’ll see at the front desk and the voice you’ll hear at the end of the phone.

Liz is always on hand to book appointments, address any queries or take your contact lens orders, and with her bubbly personality and positive nature, she’s mastered the art of making people feel at home. She completed her Optical Assistant qualification with Distinction in August 2021 and loves giving people the confidence they need to wear frames as colourful as hers are!
