What is Ortho-K?

Orthokeratology (ortho-k), also known as Night Lenses, corrects your vision while you sleep. Simply apply the custom contact lenses before you go to bed, remove them upon waking and enjoy a world of clear, natural vision throughout the day.

Ortho-K is non-invasive, safe & effective and has transformed the lives of thousands of people across the world.

How does Ortho-K work?

The cornea plays a key role in creating a sharp optical focus. Ortho-K lenses gently reshape the curvature of the cornea overnight, creating a slightly flatter profile.

Upon waking, the slight change (less than half the width of a human hair) in corneal curvature is enough to create clear, sharp vision for the duration of the day.

We use tried-and-tested OrthoK designs such as EyeDream, Menicon Z Night and Menicon Bloom Night, so you can be sure of crystal clear vision and a safe, trusted system.

Who is Ortho-K for?

Orthokeratology is the perfect solution for people who suffer from mild to moderate myopia (short-sightedness) and:

  • want clear natural vision all day without the need for specs or lenses
  • have considered last surgery but are concerned with the associated risks
  • are involved in sports and find glasses & contact lenses restrictive
  • are soft contact lens wearers but suffer from discomfort or dry, scratchy eyes

Is Ortho-K expensive?

Despite its almost too-good-to-be-true benefits, ortho-K costs about the same as wearing daily disposable contact lenses every day. Book an EyeDream consultation to find out more.

So what next?

Arrange an appointment to speak to Keval (an ortho-K wearer himself) or book an Ortho-K Consultation. You can also find more general information about the EyeDream system here.

Ortho-K for Children

Numerous studies have indicated that ortho-k lenses can dramatically slow the progression of short-sightedness (myopia) in children – subsequently reducing the risk of developing associated problems, such as glaucoma, in adulthood.

And because they are only worn at night and at home, night lenses offer children and parents many other benefits. Click here to find out more.
